“Just an old half ton short bed ford” Drive by the legend Alan Jackson is the song that hits home most for us. While we drove through the mountains of British Columbia, Canada from small town Manitoba a two week holiday our parents took from the daily grind of turning wrenches and teaching, when my brother and I were about 6 and 8. We just about blew the speakers out of my dad’s black 1995 dodge, 5 speed on the stick loaded with our slide in camper visiting our two aunts who live out in Penticton, British Columbia. Having this song on repeat just about the whole way there. To us this song is the most memorable because it has such a great and memorable story line to it. While it being introduced to us as young farm kids making such a great memory with our family traveling through the mountains of British Columbia, probably one of our biggest and most memorable family retreats so far in our lives that we will never forget.
With Jon dreaming of driving his old truck sitting on top of the center council right beside him with Alan Jackson’s Drive cranked through the speakers. Dreaming some day we could “pullout that ole memory and think of them and smile and say.” That were driving down the same highway with our own kids reliving this great memory that we have written and hope to rewrite over again.
