#MyMusicStory

I heard this one for the first time when I was about 4 years old, on a road trip with my parents. I remember sitting in the back of our old silver Honda Civic and leaning my head on the window to watch the traffic pass by just as the song came on. The sky was gloomy, coated in grey clouds that hung low enough to kiss the tops of the trees running along the highway. Maybe I was vulnerable after the endorphin rush that my first listen of 'Beautiful Day' had unleashed--back when we listened to CDs front to back--but the only way my little body could process the overwhelming feelings of hope, ease, sadness, and comfort, brought on by Stuck in a Moment, was to find stillness. That was one of the first times I remember feeling music and ironically, that memory lives on because I got stuck in the FREAKING moment! Thanks a lot, U2! Getting me to be all mindful and stuff. As the years have crept, blasted, and rolled their way on by, this song has continued to be one of the select few that stops me in my tracks. It demands and consumes all of my attention. Every. Single. Time. It comes on. LOVE IT. To this day, the song brings me back to that car ride. The same song on different days, at different times, in and creating different atmospheres, still brings me back to the same place. It has yet to fail to bring up floods of emotions. I can’t help but stop for a moment to breathe it all in again. Oh, and also, it’s a freaking good tune!
