When The Boom Booms released their first album "Hot Rum". We just so happened to be in Vancouver staying with a friend in Kitsilano. We were on our first ever cross country "tour". But since we had no idea how to book a tour back then, we called it the "open mic tour" and just packed our bags and hit the road. When we got to the club in downtown Vancouver to grab a drink and catch the set, we weren't even sure what we were in for. But that night ended up having a giant impact on us. The concert was ridiculously fun. We had one of the best nights of our lives dancing and sweating away to the Latin inspired beats and funky bongos. We quickly grabbed a copy of the CD before leaving that night, and promptly placed it in our SUVs trusty player. It was there that the CD stayed for our entire trip back home to Ontario. Every morning we woke up somewhere along the Trans-Canada Highway. Looking at each other and smiling as we would press play and listen to the entire album front to back, on repeat.

To this day, when we think about touring or traveling on the road, we always think about The Boom Booms. The album was like nothing we had heard before it, or anything like the music we make ourselves. But the connection between the live concert, the "touring" story, and the open road makes it truly unforgettable for us. Every time we hear this album it takes us right back to that dark & sweaty club in downtown Vancouver, then out to the open roads of Canada, and even into a sense of accomplishment for ourselves and the early stages of our touring career.
