#MyMusicStory by Michael Des Barres
When I first heard the intro to jumping Jack flash I walked differently. The Sheer exuberance and hubris of Mick Jagger’s confident sensuality opened a door I’ve never closed. Post second world war young British boys and girls were trying to find an identity. The working class in the swinging 60’s began to have a voice both in movies and music. Jumping Jack flash was an anthem for me of teenage degeneracy that has stayed with me all these years. I’ve been sober for 38 years so it’s not about opium dens and top hats it’s about self-confidence I was born in a crossfire hurricane too.
